Ducks in a Row

This was a site specific project for the Wetlands and Pond in Reykjavik´s center. Spring 2011

The sign has instructions on selective feeding.

Seagulls have long been a nuisance at Reykjavik Pond and other areas where parents take their young children on weekends to feed ducks, geese and swans. With ample food source the seagulls have seized the opportunity and large flocks frequent the area occasionally snacking on a duckling that has strayed too far from its mother to humans horror.

The sign was based on a maneuver suggested by a bird specialist on how to “selectively feed” certain species. Bordering the performative the ponds visitors become unknowing participants in the performance.

The sign was temporary and was removed by the city after a couple of years.
